Strong Pathways Activations: Confidence and Career Workshop at Mai-Wel Singleton

The Mai-Wel Singleton office recently hosted Strong Pathways Activations, a career workshop delivered by Acadiam and facilitated by Corey and George.

Welcoming 18 participants from our Transition to Work and Inclusive Employment Australia programs, the day delivered an engaging and inspiring experience focused on career exploration, self-discovery, and future planning.

About the Career Workshop

Strong Pathways Activations is designed for young people who are unsure of their career direction, lacking confidence, disengaged from employment opportunities, or struggling to identify their next steps. Through interactive activities and guided discussions, participants worked through their strengths, interests, values, and potential career pathways, leaving with a clearer picture of where they want to go and how to get there.

What Happened on the Day

Many participants arrived feeling nervous and hesitant, stepping into a room full of people they had never met before. As the session progressed, something shifted. Barriers began to break down, conversations opened up, and participants who had started the day quietly began speaking up, sharing their thoughts, and engaging confidently with the group.

Watching participants step outside their comfort zones was one of the most rewarding parts of the day. For many, speaking up in front of a group was a significant achievement in itself, and the supportive environment created by Corey and George made that possible.

An added highlight was the opportunity for participants to win gift vouchers throughout the session, creating a healthy sense of competition and a positive, energetic atmosphere that kept engagement high throughout the day.

What Participants Took Home

Each participant received a personalised report providing valuable insights and recommendations to support ongoing conversations with their Employment Consultant. Reports covered suitable jobs and industries aligned to their strengths, training opportunities, relevant tickets and licences, resume and interview preparation, job readiness, and local employment pathways.

These reports will help Employment Consultants tailor future support and connect participants with education and employment opportunities that genuinely align with their goals.

Why It Matters

Sometimes all it takes is one meaningful conversation or one new perspective to change the direction of someone’s future. For many of the participants at Singleton, Strong Pathways Activations had the potential to be exactly that turning point.

Mai-Wel looks forward to continuing to connect young people with career workshops, training, and the support they need to take their next steps.
