Business Hunter’s Charity Golf Day has raised close to $21,000 for Mai-Wel, with almost 150 players and 20 sponsors getting behind the day at Cypress Lakes Golf and Country Club.

Facilitated by the Hunter Business Golf Group, the event brought together the Hunter business community for a day of golf, networking and fundraising.

The day featured on-course challenges and fundraisers including a Hole In One to win a car thanks to Cardiff Toyota, a Nearest to the Pin contest, a Marshmallow Tee-Off, and a 100 Club adding to the funds raised and providing a bit of fun for the players.

Funds will go directly toward Mai-Wel’s programs and services, supporting people across the Hunter to build skills, find meaningful work and connect with their community.

Mai-Wel Chief Participant Officer Jenny Capellacci thanked everyone involved, noting the result showed what’s possible when local business gets behind its community.

“Every dollar raised today goes straight back into supporting the people we work with to live the life they choose,” Ms Capellacci said. “We’re very grateful to Business Hunter, the Hunter Business Golf Group and every player and sponsor who backed the day. Support like this makes a real difference.”

Greg Dawson, owner of Hunter Business Golf Group, praised the response from the Hunter business community.

“It was great to see so many people from the Hunter business community come together to back this cause,” Mr Dawson added. “To sell out the course with both players and sponsorships is a fantastic result.”

SJH Communications was the day’s major sponsor, with Superior Pest Management sponsoring the drinks cart. Hole sponsors included Cardiff Toyota, Peter Dunn Real Estate, Elders Insurance, Panasonic Air Conditioning, Commonwealth Bank, Yarrum Designer Homes, Black Lion Digital, Advapaint, Industrial Gaskets and Sealants, Rinnai Air Conditioning, Morgan Business Sales, Beyond Bank, Tozer Air Conditioning and Electrical, Carrick Air Conditioning, Audrey Wilkinson and P&D Kay Constructions.

There were also numerous supporters who donated prizes to the Golden Card Draw held on the day, with 35 lucky winners coming away with prizes from a generous prize pool.

Mai-Wel has been delivering disability, employment and community supports across the Hunter region for over 65 years, and this charity day is a great example of how the Hunter business community continues to support the work they do.
