Maitland Blacks name Mai-Wel as charity partner for 2026

In 2026, we are proud to partner with the Maitland Blacks Rugby Club, who have named Mai-Wel as their official charity partner for the year.

This partnership brings grassroots sport together with inclusive opportunities for Hunter locals navigating disability, injury and health conditions, unemployment and social isolation.

Across the 2026 season, we will work alongside the Maitland Blacks to:

  • Create inclusive game day experiences
  • Build employment and work experience pathways
  • Strengthen community participation
  • Raise funds to support inclusive programs across the region

Sport has a unique ability to build belonging. When community spaces are welcoming and inclusive, more people feel confident to participate, connect and take their next steps.

Louise Fernie, our Business Development and Partnerships Specialist, said the partnership reflects the power of sport to create opportunity.

“Sport has the power to bring people together in a way few other things can,” Louise said. “When local clubs intentionally create inclusive spaces, it builds confidence, belonging and real opportunity.”

Maitland Blacks President Pat Howard said the club is proud to support inclusion across the region. “We are thrilled to welcome Mai-Wel as our 2026 charity partner. Our club has always been about community first,” Pat said.

“We know the impact we can have when we stand together. This partnership allows us to extend that impact beyond rugby and into the lives of people who deserve opportunity and connection.”

Funds raised throughout the season will support our work across the Hunter, helping people build skills, access employment pathways, and strengthen their connection to community life.

We look forward to sharing more across the year as the partnership gets underway.
