Mai-Wel Employee Honoured at 2024 Business Hunter Awards

On Friday, September 13th, NEX Newcastle hosted the prestigious 2024 Business Hunter Awards, where outstanding achievers from across the Hunter region gathered to celebrate excellence in business. From a pool of over 200 entrants, The Mai-Wel Group emerged as finalists in two key categories: Outstanding Community Organisation and Outstanding Employee.

Chelsea Day, NDIS Employment Pathways Manager at Mai-Wel Enterprises, was awarded the Outstanding Employee accolade, a testament to her exceptional leadership and dedication. Chelsea has been a driving force behind Mai-Wel’s mission, leading a diverse team of supported employees and skilled workers, while fostering an inclusive and empowering environment for people with disability.

On receiving the award, Chelsea said, “This is not just a win for me but a recognition of the remarkable achievements of the participants and staff at Mai-Wel Enterprises. It truly showcases the abilities of people with disability.”

Mai-Wel has been an integral part of the Hunter region since 1960, providing life-changing opportunities for people with disability. The recognition of Chelsea’s work further cements the organisation’s commitment to empowering individuals and supporting their transition into open employment.

In addition to Chelsea’s win, Mai-Wel sponsored the Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion award, with CEO John Cleary inviting two Mai-Wel participants on stage to present the accolade.

This year’s success underscores Mai-Wel’s ongoing impact in the community and its dedication to fostering diversity, inclusion, and possibilities for all.
