Families Celebrate Creativity and Connection at Grand Families Day

This morning, East Maitland Library was filled with colour, laughter, and creativity as families gathered for Mai-Wel’s Grand Families Day workshop. With guidance from our talented Mai-Wel artists—creators of the original headpieces for the Walls That Talk exhibition—participants worked together to craft their own unique and vibrant designs.

The workshop provided an opportunity for families to connect, explore their identities, and celebrate diversity through the power of art. Each headpiece told a personal story, showcasing the imagination and collaboration of those involved.

Adding to the celebration, the stunning original headpieces from Mai-Wel’s Walls That Talk exhibition are now proudly displayed in the cabinets at East Maitland Library. These pieces, designed as part of a broader exploration of identity, inclusion, and community, are a must-see for anyone visiting the library.
