Emma & Briety Build Friendships Through Mindful Making at Mai-Wel

Emma and Briety, both passionate about creative arts, have found a unique way to relax and build friendships through Mai-Wel’s Mindful Making group, part of the Social, Community, and Creative Pathways program. Every Friday, the two participants gather to explore their creativity and socialise while crafting their own take-home items.

Recently, Emma and Briety embarked on an artistic journey, transforming simple objects like plates and mirrors into beautiful, personalised masterpieces. Armed with paintbrushes and an array of colours, they experimented with different techniques and styles, from abstract designs to nature-inspired scenes. Emma, proud of her creation, exclaimed, “Look at my beautiful sunset,” as she shared her plate featuring a stunning sunset.

While Mindful Making offers a peaceful and creative space, it also plays a significant role in developing participants’ social skills. Emma and Briety not only create art but also form lasting friendships, all while enjoying the meditative process of crafting.

The Mindful Making group continues to provide a safe, supportive environment where participants can express themselves creatively while forging meaningful connections with others. We can’t wait to see what Emma and Briety create next!
