A Successful First World Café Event at Mai-Wel
On Tuesday, 29th October, Mai-Wel hosted its inaugural World Café at the John St Telarah site, bringing together 15 participants and their support networks for a unique evening of discussion and connection. Set up in an informal, café-style environment, the World Café allowed attendees to discuss and provide feedback on Mai-Wel’s core values—Respect, Excellence, and Integrity—in a relaxed and engaging setting.
Participants were grouped at small tables, each focused on one of Mai-Wel’s values, and discussed questions designed to spark conversation. Over multiple 20-minute rounds, attendees shared laughs, insights, and constructive ideas on how Mai-Wel can continue to improve its services. Comments ranged from appreciation for Mai-Wel’s support, such as “Staff make me feel good,” to positive recognition like, “Mai-Wel does what it says it’s going to do.”
The event was also a wonderful social opportunity, as many participants reconnected with old friends and met new ones. Enjoying pizza and conversation, some were even inspired to explore new activities offered by Mai-Wel.
We’re excited to continue the World Café series in 2025 with three more events planned. We look forward to seeing even more participants and their support networks join these discussions to help shape Mai-Wel’s ongoing commitment to respect, excellence, and integrity.
