CMC Foundation invests $50,000 in Mai-Wel to expand inclusive opportunities across the Maitland LGA
CMC Foundation has invested $50,000 in not-for-profit Mai-Wel to help create more inclusive employment, skills development and community participation opportunities right here in Maitland.
The significant contribution strengthens an established partnership between Mai-Wel and Club Maitland City that has already created workplace learning and employment opportunities for people facing barriers to employment.
A Longstanding Partner
Club Maitland City has been a longstanding employer partner of Mai-Wel, opening its workplace and community to participants and providing opportunities for people to build their skills, confidence and experience. The new funding takes that commitment further and will help Mai-Wel extend the opportunities available to people in the community.
Mai-Wel CEO John Cleary OAM said the partnership demonstrated what can be achieved when local organisations work together with a shared commitment to inclusion.
“Club Maitland City has been an important partner of Mai-Wel for many years, opening its doors, workplace and community to the people we support,” Mr Cleary said.
“This investment will help us connect more people with meaningful opportunities to develop their skills, build confidence and move towards employment and greater independence. We are incredibly grateful to the CMC Foundation and Club Maitland City for their continued belief in our work and the people we support.”
CMC Foundation
Established by Club Maitland City in 2023, the CMC Foundation channels funds raised through club activities directly back into the Maitland community.
CMC Foundation and Club Maitland City CEO Ian Martin said supporting Mai-Wel aligned strongly with the Foundation’s purpose and commitment to the local community.
“CMC Foundation exists to make a difference in Maitland, for Maitland, and Mai-Wel is exactly the kind of organisation that embodies that,” Mr Martin said.
“Mai-Wel creates opportunities that have a lasting impact on individuals, families, employers and the broader community. We are proud to strengthen our partnership and support its work across the Maitland region.”
The partnership also highlights the important role local employers and community organisations can play in creating workplaces where more people have the opportunity to contribute, belong and succeed.

As a not-for-profit, Mai-Wel relies on community partnerships and philanthropic support to extend its impact beyond funded service delivery. This includes developing sustainable social enterprises, improving facilities and creating employment, training and community participation opportunities that help people achieve their goals.
Mai-Wel and Club Maitland City will continue working together to identify new ways to create inclusive employment and community opportunities, building on a partnership that is already delivering meaningful outcomes for people in Maitland.
