Louise gains workplace skills through Thrive Scents’ candle packaging experience
Gaining confidence and practical workplace skills
Louise, a participant in Mai-Wel’s Academy Discovery Program, is developing valuable workplace skills through her hands-on work experience at Thrive Scents.
Her role in preparing and packaging candle gift boxes has become a platform for growth, learning, and achievement.
Over the past few weeks, Louise has shown impressive progress in her confidence, consistency, and attention to detail. She’s taken real ownership of her responsibilities in the Thrive Candle Room, where she carefully assembles product orders, selects packaging materials, and ensures every gift box meets a high standard of quality.
Preparing for future opportunities
Support staff have observed a noticeable shift in her ability to complete tasks with minimal prompting, a sign of increasing independence and self-belief.
“Louise has really come into her own,” shared one support team member. “She’s reliable, focused, and takes genuine pride in the quality of her work.”
Louise’s engagement in the candle-making process is helping her build real-world skills that are essential for future employment.
Through her experience, she is strengthening:
-
Workplace focus and independence
- Fine motor coordination and task completion
- Ability to follow multi-step instructions
- Confidence in a structured work environment
These workplace skills will support Louise on her journey toward greater independence and meaningful employment.
