James, a participant in Mai-Wel’s Maitland program, recently celebrated the completion of his work experience at Rebel Sport. Starting on July 24th and concluding on October 30th, 2024, James worked across various departments, from stock management to customer support, where he developed skills in product replenishment, sizing, and labeling. He also learned how to use Rebel’s pricing scanner and printer, a key part of his stock management training, enabling him to ensure products were accurately priced.
James has been working with Mai-Wel to strengthen his self-awareness, confidence, and decision-making abilities. The supportive environment provided by Rebel Sport’s management and staff allowed James to flourish, grow his communication skills, and proudly achieve personal milestones.
Reflecting on his experience, James shared, “I enjoyed working at Rebel Sport and I was proud of my achievement. I learned a lot.” His journey highlights how inclusive business partnerships, like Rebel Sport, empower people with disability to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in the workplace.
