Haylen Achieves His Goal of Getting in the Water with Support from Mai-Wel
Haylen’s determination leads to personal achievement
Our participant, Haylen, has been working closely with his support team to achieve his goal of getting into the water.
Over the past three months, we have been working alongside Haylen’s occupational therapist to make his goal of getting into the water a reality.
Through patience, tailored strategies, and lots of encouragement, Haylen gradually built up the confidence to take that first step. His team adapted sessions to suit his pace and comfort, celebrating every small milestone along the way.
Each session is not just about swimming, it has been all about building trust, resilience and a sense of accomplishment that Haylen can carry with him beyond the water.
Haylen is gaining confidence and skills in the water
Now, Haylen absolutely loves being in the water! He frequently engages with staff, takes time to connect with community members, and participates in hydrotherapy sessions.
His confidence continues to grow in the water, and he is making further progress in his skills.
Although it was well outside of his comfort zone, Haylen has shown incredible determination to achieve his goals. It has been such a rewarding journey full of progress and perseverance.
Not only is Haylen enjoying the water, but he’s also building social confidence, strengthening communication, and developing his independence. His support team couldn’t be prouder of his achievements.
