Dylan, a Mai-Wel participant in Maitland, recently celebrated a birthday in the best way he could imagine—with a ride in a Kenworth truck! Dylan, who works at Industrial Galvanisers Heatherbrae, regularly shares his passion for trucks with his support worker, Ian. Recognising Dylan’s enthusiasm, Ian arranged for a unique experience through Compas Transport and Dave Hickey, a friend and truck owner, to celebrate Dylan’s special day.
On August 31, Dylan, his father Greg, and Ian visited Compas Transport’s yard at Tomago, where they were welcomed by Colin and Marisa Pasquale. Dylan received a warm welcome, along with Kenworth and Compas Transport merchandise, including a cap, beanie, shirt, and stickers. The highlight of the day was a tour of the Kenworth truck fleet and a ride out to Williamtown and back, giving Dylan an up-close experience with the vehicles he admires.
Reflecting on the experience, Dylan shared, “I love being around Kenworth Trucks and can’t thank Dave Hickey and Compas Transport enough for the opportunity to ride in a Kenworth Truck.”
This experience is a testament to the wonderful individuals and businesses in our community, like Compas Transport, who go above and beyond to create inclusive opportunities for people with disabilities. Thank you to everyone involved for making Dylan’s dream come true!
