Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and disruption to regular business, Mai-Wel LabourForce Solutions (MWLFS) recognised the importance of remaining proactive in the delivery of their services to job seekers. Working collaboratively, MWLFS and JobQuest adapted their classroom-delivered workshops into a format for successful online delivery, addressing the arising needs from changes in the workplace caused by COVID-19.
MWLFS job seekers Sam, Mathew and Tina (pictured) joined JobQuest’s adapted online workshop, which aimed to prepare participants for video conferencing calls and online interviews, as they became the norm during the peak of the pandemic.
The job seekers were supported to complete the online activities by their MWLFS Case Manager, Trish, and JobQuest Trainer, Farrina.
Throughout the training, the job seekers remained positive and showed commitment to making this opportunity work and overcoming any obstacles. The group pulled together to get the best our of their training platform with great success.
The workshop concluded with a vision board activity and on successful completion of the course, each of the job seekers were awarded their vision boards and a “thank you” survival kit.
As a result of the enthusiasm with which this workshop was received, a second round of the course is now underway for MWLFS job seekers. The record of attendance and participation has remained exceptional. One participating job seeker noted the online delivery is “a good platform for employment preparation and computer skills moving forward.”
MWLFS has recognised the value and demand for online training as a form of service delivery and look forward to continuing to offer these opportunities in future.
