Oliver’s been getting out and about with Work Life Connect!

Meet Oliver, a participant at Work Life Connect who has been getting out and about in Cessnock to increase his confidence, independence and skills.

You may have seen Oliver attending supports down at the local park, where he’s been building his skills and confidence while having some fun at the same time. Oliver wanted to have some new experiences and thought it would be a good idea to try his hand at basketball. This is something he hasn’t done before and has had a lot of fun shooting hoops in to the basket. One day soon, Oliver is hoping to build up the confidence and skill to compete against some friends.

After practicing basketball, Oliver had some fun on the park equipment. Not only was this a great opportunity for Oliver to increase his confidence getting out into the community, but this has also acted as a way for him to keep fit.

As part of his supports at Work Life Connect, Oliver has made a number of goals to achieve over the next 12 months including:

  • Making more friends
  • Building transferrable skills to transition from school to the world of work
  • Improve his communication skills
  • Improve on doing puzzles
  • Learn to write his full name
  • Eventually transition to other Mai-Wel supports such as Community Access, Chill Out and Employment Supports

Do you have similar goals to Oliver and live in the Cessnock area? Work Life Connect can help you achieve a range of goals using your NDIS funding through a range of services including lifestyle and leisure supports and employment supports.
