Sara turns work trial into employment at Quick Bites Cafe

Meet Sara, another Mai-Wel LabourForce Solutions (MWLFS) success story. She has recently been offered a job at Quick Bites Café in Cessnock!

Sara started attending MWLFS’ Disability Employment Services (DES) Cessnock in July of 2020. Since commencing the program, Sara has participated in one-on-one and group activities to help kickstart the search for meaningful employment.

During this time, Sara has completed a Hospitality skillset course with Atwea, through which she obtained her RSA, RCG, First Aid Certificate and CPR training, along with refreshing her Barista and customer service skills.

Sara says that MWLFS has helped not only to build her skillset but her mindset for finding employment.

“It gave me confidence and boosted my self-esteem. I have been focused on finding a job.”

Sara also notes her Case Manager, Trish, as being helpful during her time with MWLFS.

“Trish has always ensured I was reminded of my courses, appointments and made the most of the opportunities that I was provided. I have trusted her along the way and we have achieved a great outcome together.”

One of these opportunities included a trial at Quick Bites Café as a Barista. From this trial, Sara was excited to be offered the job!

“I love working at Quick Bites Café! The team are so supportive and it’s a great environment to work in.”

Her employers are very happy with Sara, as she has gained the confidence to help out beyond her comfort zone with jobs like running food and providing table service.

Good work Sara!
