Mai-Wel’s The Hub Goes Online for Lockdown!

Mai-Wel’s The Hub has taken to the virtual world to continue working towards their creative goals throughout the lockdown!

To minimise face-to-face supports at Mai-Wel’s The Hub, Support Worker Maddy joined with Tara and Alex in the Online Art Studio for their Creative Arts program. Together they worked independently on their individual art projects while keeping connected and having creative conversations about all things art.

The Hub are no strangers to the online world, having adapted to continuing supports through the last lockdown in 2020. Online mentoring was offered in music, art, creative writing and through social groups.

This time around, when news of the lockdown came, The Hub was ready to offer an alternative to keep their participants connected straight away. Through online platforms like Microsoft Teams the participants are able to keep connected from home while taking part in similar activities to what they would take part in on-site at The Hub.

On Fridays the Open Studio Creative Arts team usually come into the Hub. Through the Online Art Studio, they are still able to continue this tradition and get together online, talking and creating all things art from the comfort of home!

Both Tara and Alex said they’ve found it easy to use the online platform Microsoft Teams and have very much enjoyed the opportunity to stay connected. During the session, Alex worked on her series of abstract art works using markers. Meanwhile, Tara created some sample felting squares for her to exhibit in a workshop in the future.

“It feels good for us all to still have some face-to-face time, with a few laughs too!” said Support Worker Maddy.

The Hub looks forward to staying connected with the rest of the Hub family throughout the lockdown online!

You can still take part in a range of fun, skill building online programs with The Hub during lockdown, including Creative Arts, Fun with Friends, Movement & Wellbeing and Healthy Living! If you would like to join The Hub online via Teams, contact to book your spot, or for more information.
