MWLFS job seekers gain green thumbs with new hands-on training opportunity

Mai-Wel LabourForce Solutions (MWLFS) is putting on the gardening gloves as they pair up with Transformational Institute and Telarah Bowling Club to offer job seekers the opportunity to gain a Certificate II in Horticulture, with a First Aid Certificate incorporated in the mix.

Many MWLFS job seekers have expressed an interest in areas such as land care, garden maintenance and plants in general. As the warmer months approach, opportunities for employment in garden maintenance are on the rise. Through this horticulture-based workshop delivered by Transformational Institute, job seekers will gain knowledge and experience, as well as a competitive edge in the field!

The course will be delivered each Monday between 9am to 3:30pm at Telarah Bowling Club, covering the following topics:

  • Use of chemicals
  • Operations of basic machinery
  • Propagation
  • Environmentally sustainable work practices
  • Planting and pruning trees and shrubs
  • Weeds, pests, diseases and disorders
  • Soils and growing mediums
  • Stores
  • WHS
  • First Aid
  • Workplace communications
  • Customer Service

While completing the course, work experience hours will be organised with organisations that have vacancies available for MWLFS job seekers.
