Jacob’s made, mixed and mastered his first original song!

Budding songwriter Jacob has released his first original song, created during his private music sessions at Mai-Wel on Vincent in Cessnock.

Participants are able to explore the world of music one-on-one- with a Creative Arts mentor during weekly one hour sessions.

Jacob first started his private music sessions back in February 2021. During these sessions, participants can create their own music goal. From the beginning, his goal was to learn how to write, record, mix and master songs, as well as the process to release these songs for free on websites like Bandcamp and YouTube.

Jacob entered the program with a lot of original song lyrics he had written in the past, however he wasn’t sure about the next steps on turning these into fully realised songs. Now, Jacob has achieved his long time goal of turning one of his lyric sheets into a ‘radio-ready’ song! From start to finish, Jacob learnt and experienced the process of composing, recording, mixing, mastering and distributing his song online.

Jacob will be able to take these experiences and use them to fine tune the process for the next song he writes. We can’t wait to hear it!

You can listen to Jacob’s first song “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Anniversary Song)” at the following websites:

Mai-Wel’s lifestyle and leisure programs at Cessnock have transitioned online during the lockdown period.
