George’s day out with Mai-Wel’s Community Living

George is a participant of Mai-Wel’s Community Living, receiving assistance with house duties and  support to attend his appointments. Each Saturday afternoon is set aside to get out into the community and have some fun.

In preparation for his picnic at John Tucker Park, George and his support worker spent the week prior planning their Saturday afternoon. He was encouraged to think about what he would have to pack for the outing at John Tucker Park at Paterson.

At the picnic, George and his supports enjoyed a day out in the sun, snacking on cheese, cabanossi and jatz biscuits with some sparkling grape and apple juice to wash it down. It was a lovely day to take advantage of the fresh air and nice weather.

George thanked the staff for a fun, social day out. Now to decide where to go next Saturday!

Mai-Wel’s Community Living services supports people with disability to maintain and enhance independence in their own home. The services adapt to fit the goals and needs of each participant. For some, Community Living supports are a stepping stone to build the skills and confidence to move out of their family home and live independently or with friends.
