MWLFS job seekers earn first aid qualification as part of Cert II Horticulture course

In September 2020, Mai-Wel Labourforce Solutions (MWLFS) put on their gardening gloves to work with Transformational Institute and Telarah Bowling Club to commence a training opportunity for job seekers to gain a Certificate II in Horticulture, with a First Aid Certificate incorporated in the mix.

Just one month into the training, job seekers Jacob, Max and Toby have successfully obtaining their First Aid Certificate.

The First Aid course was delivered over one day and is a core component of the Cert II Horticulture course.

Part of the hands-on training requires the group to design and create a garden bed to practice their new skills in a real-life setting. Thanks to Telarah Bowling Club, the group will be working on some of the Club’s existing garden beds and will be provided with new plants needed to complete the work.

The horticulture-based workshop delivered by Transformational Institute has acted as a great learning tool for the many MWLFS job seekers who have expressed an interest in areas such as land care, garden maintenance and plants in general. As the warmer months approach, opportunities for employment in garden maintenance are on the rise. Through the course, job seekers will gain knowledge and experience, as well as a competitive edge in the field!
