Dylan participated in Mai-Wel’s Get Started program, graduated to our School Leaver Employment Support program Step Up using SLES funding and built the capacity for work so he was ready to join our Disability Employment Service (DES). Over the course of his time with MWLFS, Dylan completed the following:
- Travel Training
- Learner Permit for driving a car
- Forklift Licence
- Oz Harvest NEST program
- Introduction to Vehicle Detailing – Tighes Hill TAFE
- Certificate 3 – Warehouse Operations and Forklift License – Licenses 4 Work
- Introduction to Tiling Industry – Tighes Hill TAFE
With the help of MWLFS, Dylan’s determination to learn and improve his skills lead to his employment at Delnorth, where he now stays in regular contact with a Mai-Wel Post-Placement Support Worker to ensure he is settling into this position.
Since late 2018, Beyond Bank has been partnering with Mai-Wel to fund the Get Started initiative, supporting young people with disabilities in their transition from school to work. We want to give a big thank you to the team at Beyond Bank for their ongoing support.
