Chantelle’s path to success with TtW!

Mai-Wel LabourForce Solutions’ Transition to Work program assists young people aged 15-24 years old to discover the employment path they would like to journey down, and what steps to take to achieve these goals.

Chantelle recently achieved an amazing outcome with Transition to Work by finding a fantastic traineeship that has allowed her to continue her studies and get a foot in the door of the finance industry at the same time!

Chantelle told us all about her journey with Transition to Work.

“Since commencing the Transition to Work program at Mai-Wel last year, I’ve been supported to enrol and complete my Certificate III in Accounts Administration online. Most recently I was supported into a Trainee Finance Officer role, during which I’ll complete my Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping.

My Youth Support Mentor from Mai-Wel was there to support me the whole way. We spoke about suitable courses to do online last year during the pandemic that would help me get into the workforce in the career direction I wanted. Through regular contact they ensured I was on track with my course and had the support I needed to complete it. They also found the traineeship opportunity for me, coached me through interview preparation and techniques, and helped to get me some clothes so I was ready for my first day.

The timing of the traineeship was perfect! I completed the last of my assessments for my Certificate III the night before I interviewed for the Traineeship role. I then received my transcript and Certificate in the mail a few days before I started the job.

I’m receiving support even now that I’ve gained a role. It’s been a really positive experience.

Before Transition to Work, I really enjoyed studying but hadn’t found the right job to put my learning into practice. I now have a job aligned with the career direction I want to pursue. I’m on a path to furthering my qualifications and education, and I’m working for a great company. What a result!

I’m really enjoying my new role and loving my new teammates, so I’m fortunate to have found a company I can see myself with long term.”

Mai-Wel LabourForce Solutions’ staff are passionate about seeing local job seekers reach their full potential and achieve their goals. Congratulations Chantelle!
