Social skills that are out of this world!

In this strange, new and restricted world of COVID-19, Life FUNdamentals Cessnock participants have found a way to engage together in a world of their own creation! Taking to the screen and the page, participants have started a Dungeons and Dragons game, which they play together over Zoom. The participants have created characters that have defined personality traits and flaws, their own world view and backgrounds, which the players use to navigate a world designed by the group. Some positive changes and opportunities have come from these times

Although COVID-19 has thrown The Hub Maitland and Cessnock many challenges, it goes without saying that staff  and participants have pulled together and remained positive and energised during this time. Introducing Gabby

At the start of 2020, before the madness of COVID-19 kicked in, we had the pleasure of interviewing our participant Gabby. She's been with Mai-Wel for 7 years and is kept busy by engaging in various services across the organisation; Life FUNdamentals, Creative Arts, Leisure Links, Get Started and Disability Employment Services with Mai-Wel LabourForce Solutions (MWLFS). Adam’s Room Project is Completed!

Tom’s Hard Work Brings Great Rewards

For the last two years, Tom has received one on one support, three times a week, at The Hill. During this time, Tom has learnt a variety of skills to help maintain a healthy and happy lifestyle and wellbeing. His progress has been nothing short of amazing! Cooking, budgeting and exercise have been three areas that Tom has worked on over the years. Tom’s cooking skills have improved a great deal, and he can now make a variety of meals independently. Adam’s projects create his own space

In his centre-based supports at The Hill, Adam is working on making a space of his own, full of projects he has independently created. Words of Shakespeare, Concert edition

Mai-Wel's Leisure Links participant, Kane, joined a group of music lovers at the Bohemian Rhapsody Queen tribute show at Cessnock Performing Arts Centre on Friday 11th October. Check out his review! Kane’s New Caledonia holiday aboard the P&O Pacific Explorer

Mai-Wel's Leisure Links participant, Kane, hit the high seas with his support worker, Reece, for the holiday of a life time aboard the P&O Pacific Explorer bound for New Caledonia.
