Thrive Scents – learning employment skills never smelled so sweet!

In Mai-Wel’s Thrive Scents initiative, participants are able to experience a simulated workplace creating soy candles and melts. Thrive Scents is a centre-based initiative that runs on Tuesday from 9am-12:30pm. MWLFS staff take a virtual walk to Victoria as part of the isolation walking challenge

While working from home, the Mai-Wel LabourForce Solutions Disability Employment Services (DES) and Transition to Work (TtW) teams from both Maitland and Cessnock offices have taken on a walking challenge with a goal of collectively walking the distance of Maitland to Sydney and back in only eight days. Mai-Wel’s 10th Annual Gala Ball to be held in 2021

Last Saturday night, 2nd May 2020, would have been Mai-Wel’s 60th Anniversary Gala Ball celebration at the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley and, while I do love the comfort of my own home, I, like many other Ball-goers was disappointed that I wasn’t frocking up for the occasion. Branden’s hard work recognised with educational scholarship

Congratulations to Branden, participant of Mai-Wel's Get Started initiative and recipient of a 2020 Mentor Support Network Educational Scholarship! He was nominated for the Scholarship by Mai-Wel’s School Transitions Lead Support Cath Crowley, for his drive and determination to achieve his educational and career goals. To support his nomination, Branden was supported my Mai-Wel to attend an interview with the scholarship panel. Adam’s Room Project is Completed!

Gaby Stays Creative at Home!

The Mai-Wel Creative Arts team have moved their face-to-face sessions into the digital age by using the video conferencing app Zoom! Using the Zoom platform has allowed participants to continue receiving one-on-one mentoring online, helping them to stay socially connected and creative from the comfort of their own home. Cameron is making the most of staying home

Mai-Wel LabourForce Solutions job seeker Cameron and his case manager have worked hard to identify a suitable career path. He has participated in several activities and programs in order to gain skills and explore possible career pathways. This includes participating in the Pathways workshops at Mai-Wel LabourForce Solutins which included administrative tasks. Cameron has also participated in several goal setting exercises with his consultant.
