Welcome to Mindfulness Monday Activity 2
Find things in your home that have soothing textures, such as pillows, blankets, things from nature, objects with sequins, something squishy or soft. Let’s make a sculpture out of them. Stack the soothing objects to make an upright sculpture or place them in a pattern on a table. Try and focus your attention on the texture of the sculpture when you touch it, or maybe it has a calming smell. Your mind may wander to different thoughts, this is okay. Gently bring your mind back to your sculpture. Think of all the positive feelings that these things give you while you make your sculpture.
Let the sculpture tell you something about your strengths. If your sculpture has a soft texture, then say “I am gentle and loving” or if your sculpture is sparkly then say “I shine bright!”.
This sculpture can only be temporary, but you can take a photo of your soothing sculpture, or, you can draw your sculpture or make an abstract artwork about the positive feelings that these soothing objects give you.
If you feel any distress, bring your attention to your breath for a minute and notice air going in and out of your body.
